As Strategic Business Engagement Partner, Life Sciences, Richard is responsible for managing collaborative research with industry in the Colleges of Medical and Dental Sciences and Life and Environmental Sciences Partner having previously held this role in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. Working with the Institutes and Schools to develop and implement the Business Engagement Strategy to support and grow key research areas and maximise the benefit of industry collaborations for the University, its staff and students.

Richard was involved in the development and industry engagement of a number of large projects including the Quantum Technology Hub in Sensing and Measurement, The National Centre for Nuclear Robotics and the UK Rail Research Innovation Network as well as securing strategic partnerships with BAE Systems, Mondelez and PepsiCo. Prior to joining the University, Richard worked in International Business Development and the delivery of training programmes for overseas governments in the MENA and Central Asia regions.
